We are committed to safeguarding and nurturing children and youth who need care and protection. Our two residential homes, together with our Interim Placement and Assessment Centre, cares for around 150 persons a year. Gracehaven Fostering supports around 100 foster children and youth in the community.

GRACEHAVEN FOSTERING

Appointed by the Ministry of Social and Family Development, we collaborate with foster families to provide a safe and secure home for foster children and young persons who require care and protection. These children are in foster care due to reasons that may lead to their family being unable to care for them temporarily.

HOW WE SUPPORT FOSTER PARENTS

Regular Contact

Support is given through home visits, calls and a 24/7 emergency hotline.

Specialised Training

Tailored programmes are provided to equip foster parents.

Support Groups

Provides support for foster parents through the sharing of experiences and knowledge.

Finances

A monthly fostering allowance, medical and subsidised child/student care fees are provided.

BEFRIENDERS FOR FAMILIES (BFF)

We support and help families who are reunifying after removal by child protective services, and require help to prevent future removals. We play a crucial role in easing the adjustment for both children and their caregivers. Through the BFF programme, we aim to equip families with the necessary tools and guidance to foster stronger relationships and a sense of belonging. Our dedicated team of trained befrienders work closely with families, providing mentorship, emotional encouragement, and assistance with practical challenges.

A home is more than just a space between four walls. It is the love for one another that makes a home, a home.

Every child deserves a home. Unfortunately, not every child has a place they can call "home". There are XX children in Singapore who are removed from their birth families as their families are unable to care for them. Foster homes are able to provide the care and protection needed for them to grow healthily and fufill their potential.

Gracehaven Fostering is one of the appointed-agency for fostering in Singapore. We partner and support foster families to provide a safe and secure home for foster children/ young persons who require care and protection.

WHAT IS
FOSTER CARE?

Fostering is a temporary care arrangement and the end goal is to reunite foster children with their natural families, once they are assessed to be able to care for them. Foster families provide safety, stability and shelter for children who have been abused, neglected or abandoned.

Foster care is not permanent like adoption. It is a temporary arrangement to meet the needs of a child as they develop, with the ultimate goal of re-integrating them with their natural family.

WHY CHILDREN
COME INTO
CARE

Children come into care for the following reasons:

They are victims of physical, sexual or emotional abuse.
They are victims of neglect or abandonment
Their parents have passed away
Their parents have been incarcerated
Their parents suffering from severe physical or mental illnesses and are unable to care for their children sufficiently
Their parents are facing financial difficulties or experiencing crisis in their lives

Children who come into our care, range from newborns to 18 years old.

Foster care displays to them a positive experience of family life, which they may not have had in their natural family setting.

By fostering, not only are you providing the child with physical needs, you are also showing them that he or she is worthy of love and care as they heal and grow. Such care also teaches them important lessons on how families show care and concern for one another.
