The Salvation Army announces Commissioner Lyndon Buckingham as 22nd General

27 May 2023 – The Salvation Army announces the appointment of Commissioner Lyndon Buckingham as General of the Salvation Army and Commissioner Bronwyn Buckingham as World President for Women’s Ministries.

Commissioners Buckingham come to their roles at International Headquarters with 33 years of vast leadership experience, bringing with them a passion and energy that will inspire the Army to greater heights in building God’s Kingdom.

Commissioner Lyndon Buckingham was previously appointed as Chief of the Staff and Commissioner Bronwyn Buckingham as World Secretary for Women’s Ministries since 3 August 2018. The Buckinghams previously led the United Kingdom Territory with the Republic of Ireland as Territorial Commander and Territorial Leader of Leader Development.

Other territories that Commissioners Lyndon and Bronwyn Buckingham have served include the Southern Division of the New Zealand, Fiji & Tonga Territory as Divisional Commander/Divisional Director of Women’s Ministries; as well as the Singapore, Malaysia and Myanmar Territory, as Chief Secretary and Territorial Secretary for Women’s Ministries before moving into the leadership of the same territory as Territorial Commander/Territorial President of Women’s Ministries.

Commissioners Lyndon and Bronwyn will take up their new roles starting 2 August 2023.
