RED SHIELD APPEAL EVENT 2024

The Salvation Army Singapore held its 28th edition of the Red Shield Appeal and Luncheon Event at Conrad Centennial Singapore on Friday, 19 July 2024. This year’s event was centered on the core theme of Restoring Lives with a strong focus on family reunification, reconciliation, healing, and mental wellness for The Salvation Army’s social services. With the strong support from individuals, corporates, and government institutions, we managed to raise over $245,000 for social programmes and initiatives that would go on to benefit over 2,000 individuals a month.

The luncheon event was graced by Minister of State, Ministry of Home Affairs, Social and Family Development, Ms Sun Xueling, and ambassadors from 9 countries to show solidarity and support to our mission and impactful work. The luncheon’s programme had various special segment including a heart to heart talk to our ex-beneficiary under the Prison Support Programme, Notle, who shared about his transformational story with his participation in the Kids in Play programme. Moreover, a duet performance between Shaun, a Tenor operatic singer from New Opera Singapore, singing alongside our beneficiary from Peacehaven, Freddie, who played the piano to “You are my Sunshine” – a stark reminder that even in the darkest of times in everyone’s personal journey, we can all still empower one another by showing care and concern for one another.

Another unique aspect of the luncheon featured an art auction segment where the interest of art afiniciados in the midst were pique with well-known artists such as cultural medallion-honouree Ong Kim Seng and his wonderful watercolour work alongside pioneering artist Oh Chai Hoo with his abstract acrylic on paper work. Special thanks to The Community Foundation of Singapore founded by TSMP Law Corporate, as well as, and Musim Mas for their generous contribution. The event concluded with an appreciation for all our major donors, corporate partners, and volunteers that continues to play a vital role in supporting our mission and impactful work in Singapore for the vulnerable.
