RACE FOR GOOD 2024

The Race For Good 2024 was conducted with great fanfare with our 2nd edition of our annual sporting event taking place on Saturday, 14 September 2024. Notwithstanding the pouring rain in the early hours of the weekend, 1,300 passionate runners braved the weather to come together to “Move For Change” at Angsana Green, East Coast Park. In partnership with Trifactor Singapore, the running categories expanded to include 5km, 10km, 21.1km, and a family event, The Amazing Race, with an event that’s suitable for all ages.
The support from participants and corporates gave meaning to the event and a renewed drive towards philanthropic efforts for our beneficiaries through our social services’ programmes and initiatives. Their support enabled us to raise over $250,000 in donations this year with funds going directly towards funding social programmes that transforms the lives of the vulnerable groups in Singapore – including the children and youth, the elderly, ex-offenders, and their families, as well as migrant workers.
We have the privilege of having Minister of State (Education and Manpower), Ms Gan Siow Huang to grace us at our event and to rally support towards the philanthropic causes The Salvation Army stands for.
The volunteers, donors, and corporates who have stepped forward allows us to achieve and sustain the following impact:
- 70% of our children and youths discharged from 2021 to 2023 were successfully reunited with their families within 2 years.
- 74% of our elderly residents have seen improved or sustained well-being scores within the first 3 to 6 months of admission.
- Over 12,000 migrant workers has benefitted from our mental wellness programmes
- Over 300 ex-offenders assisted with their practical needs and offered relevant job matching and upskilling programmes
The race festival was also raring off to a fantastic start with the different booths selling different pre-packed snacks such as cookies and kombucha, alongside activity booths including terrarium building workshop, and a health check booth by SNEF. The Amazing Race also promoted bonding across the allocated race area with activities centred on close collaboration and relationship building.
